Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is a fancy name for an obvious idea: write so that ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity can find you, quote you, and cite you. Here's how.
Concrete tactics
- Use semantic HTML — h1, h2, h3 in order
- Front-load the answer in the first paragraph
- Use bulleted and numbered lists liberally
- Add JSON-LD for Article, FAQPage, Product, etc.
- Cite primary sources, especially the IRS
- Update content yearly — recency matters
