Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how MileTracker (“MileTracker,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the MileTracker mobile app, this website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). Your use of the Service is also governed by our Terms of Service.
MileTracker is built for solo 1099 contractors. Your location data and trip history are some of the most sensitive information you can give to an app, and we treat them that way.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address. We store this to identify your account and to sync your data across devices.
Location and trip data
MileTracker uses Apple’s background location APIs to detect when you start and stop driving. For each detected trip, we record:
- Start and end timestamps
- Start and end coordinates
- A simplified route polyline
- Distance and duration
- Any classification, purpose, or notes you add
Trips are written to a local SQLite database on your device first. They are then opportunistically synced to our cloud backend (Supabase) so that your data is available across your devices and can be restored if you reinstall the app.
Subscription information
MileTracker Pro is sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system and managed via RevenueCat. We receive a non-personal entitlement status (Pro / not Pro) and an anonymous customer identifier. We do not receive your payment card information.
Diagnostics and analytics
We use Vercel Analytics on our website to count anonymous page views. Inside the app, we may collect anonymous crash and performance information so we can fix bugs. None of this data contains your trip history or precise location.
2. How we use your information
- To detect, store, classify, and display your trips.
- To generate IRS-ready PDF and CSV mileage reports.
- To sync your data across your devices via Supabase.
- To verify your MileTracker Pro entitlement.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To improve the app by analyzing anonymous, aggregated usage patterns and crash reports.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores your trips and account.
- Apple — for sign-in and in-app purchase processing.
- RevenueCat — for managing subscription entitlements.
- Vercel — for hosting this website and basic analytics.
- Law enforcement, if we are required to do so by a valid legal process.
We never share your trip history or location data with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Data retention
We retain your trip data for as long as your account is active so that your historical mileage logs remain available for tax reporting. You can delete individual trips inside the app at any time. You can also delete your account and all associated data by emailing info@jhobbie.com.
5. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to a small number of engineers and is logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data and to disclose any incidents promptly.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California), including the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, email info@jhobbie.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
7. Children’s privacy
MileTracker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. International users
MileTracker is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
10. Contact us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please email us at info@jhobbie.com.
